Welcome to Encounter Grace Yoga

Allison Forsyth is a 200 hRYT registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance, the largest nonprofit governing association representing the North American yoga community. With over 250 hours of training, and ten years of teaching experience, she desires to encourage others toward a healthier and calmer lifestyle through the healing practice of yoga.

Allison's background in classical ballet naturally draws her toward a "flow practice", aware of how a body moves in space with the breath, bringing a sense of grace and observance to each posture and transition.

encounter grace where you are...

Merriam-Webster defines grace as approval, favor, or unmerited assistance. To be under grace is to understand that you are accepted, loved, and approved of beyond the usual human judgments, labels or expectations. Just as you are. Right here, and right now. To come to the mat and to sit with yourself in perfect love-complete forgiveness and tenderness, is Grace. Yoga practice can provide the physical space and mental quiet to comprehend the idea that you are indeed perfectly loved just as you are. This is a beautiful step on any journey. Let's meet together in that blessed space.

What is Yoga?

Yoga is a physical, mental and inner-heart practice dating from ancient India; part of their form of medical arts. The word yoga comes from the Sanscrit "Yuj" and means Union, or, to Yoke. We join mind, body and breath during the practice, creating a peaceful presence of mind and a centered and connected physical body.

Yoga is not a religion; anyone can practice yoga no matter their personal beliefs. People from all world views, religious doctrines and mindsets can experience the benefits of the poses, stretches, meditations and breath-work that are a part of yoga practice. At its most practical level, yoga is a process of becoming more aware and accepting of who we are; in our bodies, our minds and in our hearts.

Encounter Grace Yoga offers the healing modalities of yoga practice to assist in strengthening the physical body with careful attention to alignment and to support a mindfulness practice that grounds the client, alleviating tension and anxiety.

What class participants and clients are saying...

...my daughter and I attended Allison’s class for the first time. It lasted about an hour, and cannot say enough about how great it was. She was very helpful, friendly, warm, and a joy to be around. Her gentle yoga classes are good for all levels.

I would definitely recommend anyone to join this friendly group that meets at Trinity Church every week.
